Italian Word of the Day

Italian Word of the Day:

There are quite a bunch of these just lurking around so I figured I had to dedicate an image… Just for them. Squirrels, here you are… And stop jumping on my car.

Squirrel – Scoiattolo/a
The squirrel – Lo/La scoiattolo/a
A squirrel – Uno/Una scoiattolo/a

Squirrels – Scoiattoli/e
The squirrels – Gli/Le scoiattole

There are male and female squirrels… Hence why you see the noun have different endings on the word. Ending in -o and -i indicate Masculine. Ending in -a and -e indicate Feminine.

-o masculine singular.
-i masculine plural
-a feminine singular
-e feminine plural

They’re just trying to store their acorns for the winter. The nuts have to keep warm. Leave them be and let them hustle.
